[Whether he wakes to the occassional sound of fighting or not, he's being gently scooped in Keirean's arms come morning. There's the coprses of some minor monsters, if he looks, but Keirean is carrying him princess style this time as he leads the limping horse.]

[he's not really processing things well by morning. his condition has taken a predictable downturn overnight, but he's still cooperatively holding still to be carried, blearily looking around like he's on the watch for danger.]

Trust me a little. Relax.

[He's worried because Kamukura is burning up. They need shelter. And food. After a bit he stops to set Kamukura down to try getting him to drink again.]

[ehnnui]

[what is this "relax"... he shakes his head.]

I'll watch your back.

[he's less fussy about drinking as much as keirean wants him to, this time. he's far less aware of their situation, really, at least on a level he can really think about.]

[goodknightdaddy]

[He sighs and finishes feeding Kamukura water.]

No. Get some sleep if you can. At least rest if you can't.

I slept all night...

[he does need more though]

You aren't in any shape to backtalk.

[he WANTS TO, but he hides his face against Keirean's shoulder instead. better?]

[Well, it's something. Keirean strokes his hair then picks him up. Time for more walking.

It's early evening, they've stopped a few times for water and rest and rations from the saddlebags which Keirean has insisted Kamukura eat. But it's been a long day and Keirean is exhausted and getting anxious, though he doesn't show it even a little. Doesn't seem tired either, impassive and cool as always.

It's not shelter exactly but he does find them a somewhat guarded position to set Kamukura down and settle the poor horse.

Wrapping Kamukura in his cloak he pats his hair.]

Rest. I won't be far.

[He needs to forage at least some food for them. But he can't go far to hunt it with Kamukura helpless.]

[It's pretty much impossible for Kamukura to even pretend to have a single chill, between his condition and Keirean having to leave him. He does get it, though? He nods, and doesn't complain, even as the hypervigilance leaves him trembling in that cloak, shaky with tension.]

[He hates having to go out of sight but it can't be helped, he just tries to make it quick, some edible plants, and a lucky find of a rabbit that couldn't escape fast enough. They'll eat well but he's anxious to get back to their makeshift camp, hurrying to return. Thet'll need to find water tomorrow though. He's tried to force Kamukura to drink as much as he can, only taking a few sips himself, but even still they aren't equipped for this situation,
they'll run out tomorrow even if he doesn't drink any more himself.

... But that's tomorrow's worry. Survival like this needs to be tackled one thing at a time. ]

Are you awake? I'm back.

[ehnnui]

[snaps his head up, even though it wasn't like he wasn't already extrenely vigilant. just... hallucinating mildly and not trusting his vision.]

My lord...?

[goodknightdaddy]

[Oh boy. He sets the food down and kneels by Kamukura, touching his forehead again. He's too hot.]

I'm here. Please rest while I prepare dinner.

[The worry is actually evident even through his calm outward demeanor.]

[ehnnui]

[he does relax, at that gentle touch. Keirean must be real.]

...I will. My apologies for worrying you.

[He doesn't know what to say to that. He's the one who hasn't found them a proper place for Kamukura to rest. He's worried, yes. But it's not Kamukura's fault. He shakes his head, awkward, and turns to work on preparing a meal.]

[ehnnui]

[he won't question that reaction, simply closing his eyes and letting himself rest as Keirean works. Feeling much safer.]

[goodknightdaddy]

[Keirean comes back to his side in a while, to try coaxing him to eat. Holding food for him if he needs it.]

[ehnnui]

[He's shaky but determined to feed himself, thank you!! The fresh food seems to do him some good, too, no matter how haphazard the meal has to be in this situation.]

[goodknightdaddy]

[Keirean in only eats after Kamukura does.

To be honest he's quite exhausted, but he cleans things away before finally settling down next to Kamukura.]

How are you feeling?

[ehnnui]

Better.

[a pause]

Sorry.

[another pause. like he doesn't know what to say after that? this is a mess and he hates how useless he is.]

[goodknightdaddy]

Don't.

[He runs a hand trough his hair than sighs, awkwardly reaching out to tug Kamulura against his side.]

You're hurt because of me in the first place. Don't think about it and just rest.

[ehnnui]

I wanted to be able to help you, this time...

[as opposed to what time? oh well he's still going.]

It's frustrating.

[but he leans against Keirean bonelessly.]

Get better and do my paperwork when we return.

[It's a joke but he keeps his arm around Kamukura, setting his sword by his side, handle under his palm, ready.]

I won't be able to stay awake tonight. Sleep against me, I'll protect you.

[It's frustrating, getting old. In his prime a few days awake... he could have managed that easily. Now it's a struggle keeping his eyelids open. At least if Kamukura is against him he can wake and defend him in the same moment.]

[ehnnui]

[he sighs softly, nearly a laugh.]

I will do however much paperwork you want.

[he snuggles a little closer, careful not to hinder Keirean's sword arm. part of him wants to offer to keep watch but he knows trying would only worsen his condition, and he can't make this situation worse than it is out of selfishness.

at least like this, he gets to have Keirean hold him.]

[It's warmer this way too. Snuggled together. It might not be too comfortable under the circumstances but Kamukura does get to have Keirean fall asleep holding him close with one arm.]
